Our Story

How it all started...

In 1867, eight faithful men gathered in the home of Henry Burris with a shared vision—to establish a church committed to God's Word and His people. That gathering marked the founding of what was then called the Free Baptist Church of Pine Valley, New York.

One of those original men, James Stoll, generously donated a parcel of land on Railroad Street in Pine Valley, where the first church building was constructed. The congregation called Pastor E.C. Rollins as their first shepherd, and by 1871, the building was completed and became the new place of worship and fellowship.

Over the years, many faithful pastors were called to lead the growing congregation. As the church expanded, conversations began about the need for a new facility to accommodate the increasing number of members. In the early 1970s, the church purchased property at 4872 Pinecrest Road in Millport, NY. Construction was completed in July 1975.

With this significant transition to a new location came a new name—Pine Valley Baptist Church (PVBC)—which continues to serve the community with the same passion and purpose that inspired its founders over 150 years ago.

Our Purpose

Pine Valley Baptist Church exists in this community to share the Gospel with the lost and the discipleship of believers

Our Goals

Our goal is to be instrumental in helping our community by meeting their needs, just as God has commanded us to do. We believe the most crucial need in every person’s life is the need for a Savior.

We strive to address this by being present in our community—serving, supporting, and building meaningful relationships. As we meet basic needs, we open doors to share the hope and love found in Christ. It all begins with genuine connection: building friendships with those we encounter, and showing them the heart of Jesus through both word and deed.
